For clarity, the closest thing in the game to what I propose is the Dark Hand's humanity sucking attack. You initiate the attack and if it lands it goes into a special animation. The backstab would essentially be the same thing. When you get into position it would do the backstab attack and if it hit then you'd go into the backstab animation. For Dark Souls on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Defense against pivot backstabs?".

Backstab setups are generally objective and will work under any connection. If you are getting backstabbed repeatedly, look for a connection like "swinging a third time" or something like that, that's getting you backstabbed.

Pivot backstabs aren't as bad because they are just so hard to get, but it's still sad to see it as such a jarring thing on both player's screens. Good video though, and I hope to see more content in the future, and hopefully we will fight someday on PS3 :)

No better way to ruin combat than being backstabbed. Even if you roll away you still get teleported back to be stabbed. Heck I even jumped off a cliff once and still got teleported back even after I hit the ground. And I don't want to talk about the people that backstab you when your facing directly in front of them. Will admit not as broken as compared to Dark Souls 1. I just think it should
Pvp in dark souls 2 in my opinion is the best out of the series, everything pretty much functioned exactly how it should, the only issue it ran into was the prevalence of slightly op meta builds. I would actually say that I enjoyed Dark souls 1 pvp the least, it was still fun but it was a little too "janky" in some aspects, back stabs being one Doing this would also probably warrant backstabs doing more damage, because otherwise it'd make more sense to just do your normal preferred weapon combo into an enemy's back. So basically a nerf to direct 1v1 battle backstabs, a buff to stealth/surprise backstabs, and a nerf to running away. LfIXGy.
