The map for Essos is wrong. No its not. That's what Essos looks like in Game of Thrones. The show still uses the map that was official at the time the show started. A couple years later GRRM updated / changed a big portion of Essos. This map is totally correct for GoT, although not correct for ASOIAF.
Carcosa is a legendary city in far eastern Essos. Asshai is a city which lies on the south-eastern area of Essos, in a region known as the Shadow Lands. The region itself is Location of Ulthos in the known world. Ulthos is a landmass in the far east, which may or may not be another continent. It lies to the south of Asshai and the Shadow Lands in Essos and to the east of Sothoryos.
